  • Set in the beautiful historic town of St Andrews at the end of October and drawing together the very best musicians from the UK and beyond, St Andrews Voices ( is an annual festival that celebrates the voice in all its many guises: opera, cabaret, Lieder, folk, choral, jazz, family events, education projects and more.

This unusual festival places the voice, and all its diverse musical incarnations, at the centre of its programme, attracting a wide audience base and the opportunity to explore unique programming that crosses traditional genre boundaries.

Led and managed by Artistic Director Sonia Stevenson with a small, dedicated team, the festival looks to its Board members for support both in terms of strategy, governance, and advice from their respective fields of experience.  We welcome all candidates who are keen to support the festival’s mission; in particular those with knowledge and experience in the following areas, although all expressions of interest will be considered:

    • Finance – especially those trained in accountancy
    • Fundraising
    • Marketing

Previous board experience is not required. The festival welcomes applications from diverse backgrounds and endeavours to have diversity of origin, gender and experience reflected in the board.

Board meetings are held quarterly, in the central belt or St Andrews. In addition, Board Members give occasional informal advice by phone or 1:1 meetings with the Artistic Director. It is also expected that Board Members attend some festival events.

Being on the St Andrews Voices Board is a fulfilling and engaging experience, and Board Members are highly valued for the vital role they fulfil in providing professional guidance and governance for this young, ambitious and rapidly-developing festival. The St Andrews Voices Board, like the company, is friendly and informal, but strives to maintain the highest possible standards in its business.

To apply, please send a CV and letter of interest to [email protected]. To discuss this opportunity informally and in confidence, please email the Chair, Professor Celia Duffy [email protected]
